Mads Tolling, Violin with Looper
April 17 @ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Mads Tolling is a two-time Grammy Award-Winning Violinist. Mads was born and raised in Denmark, where he started out busking on the streets of Copenhagen with his sister. He moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music, where he was discovered by legendary jazz-violinist Jean-Luc Ponty. This led him further west and to join bassist Stanley Clarke’s band and Turtle Island Quartet. Mads now leads his own projects, and he is a member of Bob Weir’s Wolf Bros/Pack.
Tonight, Mads is using his looper and effects pedals to play a show that pushes the boundaries of what is possible on a violin. You will hear creative versions of songs by such diverse artists as The Verve, Jimmy Hendrix, Django Reinhardt and Astor Piazzolla.
